As experts in HIV prevention and care, we're used to answering plenty of questions. But there's one question we noticed coming up a lot more than we'd expect:
"Where can I get that hat?"
The Freddie hat has become recognizable in the queer community as a symbol of sexual health savviness, along with other green-hued swag — like socks, tops and even jockstraps — that we’ve been giving out at Freddie Parties and other events over the years.
But if you couldn’t make it to those events, you could never own the iconic green Freddie hat for yourself. Until now.
For the first time ever, we’re making a (very) limited collection of Freddie merch available for sale online at shop.gofreddie.com.
All proceeds will be donated to CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks. CAAN is an Indigenous led movement uplifting the First Peoples of the land now called Canada through culturally grounded responses to HIV, hepatitis C, Sexually Transmitted Blood Born Infections (STBBI), mental health, and healing rooted in community and ancestral knowledge.
“As Okimâw of CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks, we carry responsibility to support First Peoples of the land now called Canada who are impacted by HIV through community-led responses grounded in ancestral science. By bridging ancestral and biomedical approaches, we strengthen care and access. Partnerships like this one with Freddie are critical to raising awareness and ensuring our people are supported with dignity and respect.”
