The team is so inclusive, and easy to work with. Everything from the over the phone consult, blood work and then delivery of PrEP to my front door was easy. I have recommended so many friends to use Freddie and I would tell anyone to at least have a conversation with a clinician and see if PrEP can work for you and your lifestyle.

Better than my family doctor, they follow up every 6 months, and they also give you info how to get PrEP fully covered when you only have 70% coverage in health benefits! They also tell you every bit of info on the medication, seriously I wish every health network was like this.

Great service to get PrEP on a discount! The NPs are fabulous, and very supportive, the whole process is super easy! I've been a patient for a year now, and the system they use reminds you when you're getting close to a refill, so you don't have to worry about forgetting! They send you the form, you do your labs, and then a few days later the meds arrive in the mail.

Got questions?

Our team has the answers

What is PrEP?
  • PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a medication strategy for helping to prevent HIV.
  • Most people take PrEP as one pill once a day. When taken as prescribed, it can effectively reduce the risk of getting HIV through sex.
  • There are a few different types of PrEP, which mostly vary in cost and in their side effect profiles.
What are the possible side effects of PrEP?
  • A small number of people may have some nausea or upset stomach when they start PrEP, but this usually clears up in a few weeks.
  • In the longer term, some types of PrEP have a low risk of reducing your kidney function or bone density. This is usually reversed by stopping PrEP or switching to a different form of PrEP.
  • There are a few different types of PrEP, which mostly vary in cost and in their side effect profiles.
I’ve heard PrEP medications are expensive. What will I pay for PrEP?
  • PrEP can be expensive — but over 90% of Freddie patients pay $0 for PrEP.
  • Most people have coverage through their private health insurance plan. If you have an amount to pay after this is applied, our financial assistance program will usually cover the rest. For the small number of people who aren’t completely covered, the amount they pay is reduced. No matter your situation, we’ll work with you to find the best way to get you protected against HIV.

What is Freddie Expanded Care?

We believe that sexual health and wellness should be both affordable and easy to manage. That’s why we offer Freddie Expanded Care — a selection of additional treatments you can request alongside your PrEP care.

By combining these treatments with your PrEP prescription, you can manage your prescriptions through a single patient portal and receive your medications in one convenient, discreet shipment.

Our additional treatments include medications for STI prevention, hair loss, HSV, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation.

How can I get additional treatments from Freddie?

Additional treatments available through Freddie Expanded Care are typically bundled with your initial PrEP prescription or sent during your regular PrEP renewal cycle.

To add additional treatments to your initial PrEP prescription, after booking a consult, log into the Freddie Patient Portal. In the dashboard section, you will see the option to complete the specific questionnaire for the treatment(s) you’d like to add.

Your clinician will review these requests alongside your initial PrEP intake or when your lab results are reviewed. If eligible, your prescriptions will be issued together.

If you run out of an additional treatment before your PrEP is due for renewal, or if you made an error on your questionnaire, please contact our Support Team. We will help you coordinate an early refill or correction.

How much will additional treatments cost?

When you request additional treatments through Freddie, there is no charge for clinical review or for having our clinicians write your prescription. This is a core part of our mission to make healthcare more accessible.

While the clinical review is free, there may be a cost for the medication itself, which you will pay directly to your chosen pharmacy. Our partner pharmacies work directly with you to minimize co-pays and find medication alternatives covered by your specific insurance plan.

Can I get additional treatments from Freddie without taking PrEP?

At this time, accessing additional treatments requires an active PrEP prescription with Freddie.
