Freddie is Canada's #1 PrEP Provider

Here's what patients have to say:

★★★★★
Freddie has made it very easy to get PrEP. I’m happy that they can connect me with publicly funded programs to cover the cost, as I don’t have any private coverage that would help with that.

Better than my family doctor, they follow up every 6 months, and they also give you info how to get PrEP fully covered when you only have 70% coverage in health benefits!

I have recommended so many friends to use Freddie and I would tell anyone to at least have a conversation with a clinician and see if PrEP can work for you and your lifestyle.

Freddie monitor me and my health closely and make recommendations that are beneficial to my health and wellbeing. It’s been so easy to do, and it’s helped me feel a lot more safe and less anxious.

Got PrEP questions?

Our team has the answers

What is PrEP?
  • PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a medication strategy for helping to prevent HIV.
  • Most people take PrEP as one pill once a day. When taken as prescribed, it can effectively reduce the risk of getting HIV through sex.
  • There are a few different types of PrEP, which mostly vary in cost and in their side effect profiles.
What are the possible side effects of PrEP?
  • A small number of people may have some nausea or upset stomach when they start PrEP, but this usually clears up in a few weeks.
  • In the longer term, some types of PrEP have a low risk of reducing your kidney function or bone density. This is usually reversed by stopping PrEP or switching to a different form of PrEP.
  • There are a few different types of PrEP, which mostly vary in cost and in their side effect profiles.
Can women and trans people take PrEP?
  • PrEP isn’t just for cisgender men. Anyone of any gender can take PrEP to help prevent HIV.
  • If your sex partners were born with a penis and any of their other partners were born with a penis, then you could be a good fit for PrEP.
  • You might also benefit if you inject drugs or belong to a community with high HIV rates.
Does Freddie offer DoxyPEP?
  • DoxyPEP is short for doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis. It’s where you take an antibiotic after condomless sex to help prevent bacterial STIs. It doesn’t eliminate your risk, but it can help lower it.
  • Freddie only offers DoxyPEP to PrEP or HIV+ Care patients to ensure quality care. If you’re a good fit for one, you’re probably a good fit for the other. And we can monitor your health more effectively if both your medications are coming from one place.
  • DoxyPEP does not help prevent HIV and is NOT a replacement for PrEP.
